You have been prayerfully and carefully selected to serve as a Ma & Pa over a trek family for the upcoming 2024 Cypress Stake Trek Youth Conference. Serving as a Ma’s & Pa’s is one of the most important elements of trek and requires spiritual and physical preparation well in advance. We recognize that you have families, jobs, and callings and want to thank you for your commitment and willingness to serve the youth in this capacity and recognize the time and effort it will take to do so. We feel confident that you will be blessed, and the Lord will magnify your efforts.
Preparation is essential.
Your spiritual preparation will set the tone of spirituality and unity that is essential to making a trek experience successful and give the youth in your family the best opportunity to feel the love of their Savior, a sense of belonging and have a positive trek experience.
Please do the following right away:
· Please carefully read the “Spiritual” and “Physical” preparation pages under the “Participant Info” tab and begin preparing now. We cannot stress this enough. When you are prepared you will be able to lead your trek family spiritually and physically through the experiences and obstacles on trek.
· All Ma’s & Pa’s must complete YPT training. This can be found here. IMPORTANT: Once completed, notify the stake by emailing cypresstxstaketrek@gmail.com
· Print the “Packing List” AND “Ma & Pa Equipment list” and begin gathering items now. Especially your equipment. Trek is not intended to be a financial burden. Our stake and surrounding stakes have held previous treks. Borrowing should always be your first choice.
· Secure vacation time and childcare in advance.
· Familiarize yourself with all the information on the website.
· Strive to make personal and family scripture study and prayer and regular temple attendance a priority.
· Prayerfully study the new “For the Strength of Youth: A Guidebook for Making Choices” and seek a testimony of the principles therein.
· Study the Book of Mormon and other scriptures regularly, giving special attention to gospel principles of faith in Christ and the power and strength that can come through making and keeping covenants.
· Learn about Church history, the handcart pioneers and pioneers in your own family.
· Pray for the youth in your trek family. While you do not know them yet, the Lord does and is aware of them and their needs.
· Finally please add the following dates to your calendars:
