What to Expect
Trek is an outdoor experience that can give you an opportunity to strengthen your testimony of and faith in the Savior Jesus Christ and and His atonement. One way we do this is by stepping into the “figurative”footsteps of the early church pioneers and learn abut the principles and doctrines that inspired them to act in faith and follow Jesus Christ. (Please see “why trek” on “FAQ” page)
Families:
Each of you will be prayerfully placed into a trek family that consists of a Ma & Pa and a total of 4 young men and 4 young women. Each family will be part of a “company” which contains 4-5 trek families. You will trek with your family and company each day, and will participate in a variety of spiritual and physical activities as a family, as a company, and with the entire trek group. (Please see “Trek Families” on “FAQ” page)
Activities:
Don’t worry, you won’t be trekking the entire time!
Despite their hardships, the pioneers were a joyful people who loved to have fun! They would sing, dance, play music, games and discuss spiritual principles on the trail. While on trek you will participate in inspired large morning and evening group and family devotionals, dancing (yep! We will have a dance on trek), games, large group and family testimony meetings, and other faith building and fun activities.
On the Trail:
We will be trekking up to 16-20 miles over three days through various terrains; flat, rocky, hills, and water crossings. We will stop periodically along the trail to rest, participate in activities or mini devotionals. You’ll have access to water, snacks, and port-a-potties too! (Please see “At trek” section on the “FAQ” page.)
At Camp:
Plenty of food, snacks, and water will be provided. You will camp in tents, cook some of your meals as a family and enjoy some meals with the entire stake. (Please see “At trek” section on the “FAQ” page.)
